I found this interesting website when I was looking at the events surrounding 2012. There are a vast number of speakers who will come into state schools to give inspirational talks to young people for free.
“These speakers address the big subjects: technological, scientific, political, economic, historical, cultural, artistic, ecological and ethical. They are people who will be able to explain the latest developments in areas such as business, cosmology, biology, medicine, linguistics, history, engineering, inter alia.” (taken from their home page).
Motivating and inspiring young people is vital, and this seems like a very promising initiative.
I need to apply for a particular speaker, so would value your thoughts on a subject area or latest development initiative, so that we choose the right speaker for our school. You may even have a particular speaker in mind. Have a look at the list, and read up on their profile. If you would like to let me know, I will take the most popular choice.
You can access the website below:
I would like the subject area of social care if possible or someone who works with vulnerable children e.g social worker/children with special needs.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your reply. Is there anyone on the list who catches your attention?
DeleteHugh Dennis!
ReplyDeleteWhen looking through the list, Hugh Dennis popped up. I think he would be a very insperational as a speaker.
ReplyDeletegeorge alagiah, i want to know how he got into the television industry.
ReplyDeleteHugh Dennis, I'd like to hear is he encourages his children, with comical things.
ReplyDeletei have had a look at the website and i like a few people Hugh Dennis and Martin Lewis
ReplyDeletei think we sould have david cameron
ReplyDeleteI think Brigadier James M Cowan should come in because he looks ideal for geting people involved because he can talk about the army and tell brilliant storys. If you can't get James in then i would want Hugh Dennis in because he's funny and can appeal to a lot of different people.
ReplyDeletei have picked a few people in S.D for the speakers for schools campaign. They are Hugh Dennis, Martin Lewis, Professor David Cole-Hamilton and David Cameron.
ReplyDeletei reckon we should have hugh grant or david cameron
ReplyDeletei think we should have Brigadier M Cowan
ReplyDeletei would like hugh dennis (the actor), jo Elvin (editor of Glamor magazine), and James Cowan (from the army) to come into school, as i think me and other studenets would be interested in what they would say.
ReplyDeleteChuka Umunna
ReplyDeleteRoz Savage
Robert Peston
Gloria De Piero
Hugh Dennis
I'd like anyone related to writing and television as I enjoy these topics and I think other people would too. The speaker I'd like is Hugh Dennis, as he has done both these things in his life and has achieved much in both areas. Thankyou..
ReplyDeleteThere are countless problems facing the world that engineers can solve. Great engineers are the people who understand that having a brilliant idea is never enough. Dr. Tim Minshall
ReplyDeleteis one of these engineers and I beleive that he can give a great insight into how hardwork and determination can change the world.
i think that david cameron would be a great choice as he is an excelent role model
ReplyDeleteI would like anyone related to science or the army. Angela Palmer and brigadier James M Cowan seem interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteI know it is unlikely but Hugh Dennis would also be brilliant.
I would like to have Hugh Dennis in school because he has 2 children in secondary school so he could talk about what he as a parent had to do to help his children achive and the struggle, he could also add an element of fun to an assembly as a comedian as they say theres no better cure then laughter. finally as a actor and writer he could contribute to the darma society by giving pointers and tips to acting and could give students the will power to follow there dreams as he has achived his.
ReplyDeleteI think hugh dennis would be good to come to this school because most people know him and he could teach us about acting or have david cameron because he could tell us how hard it is to become prime minister.
ReplyDeletemrs marshall's SD class student
I recommend Martin Lewis as he is a money saving expert and his advice can have a big impact on students and help them in life
ReplyDeleteI would like to have Hugh Dennis.

ReplyDeleteWow! What a great response. Thank you to you all for your nominations. There is a lot of support for Hugh Dennis. I have had some emails from students who have suggested him as well, along with other names. Speakers from the field of science seem to be a popular choice too.
